SEASON REWIND: CALVIN PICKARD
Despite missing more than a month of the season, Calvin Pickard proved to be exactly what the Condors needed between the pipes in 2022-23.
An offseason signing by the Edmonton Oilers, Calvin Pickard took the reins as the team’s number one goaltender in 2022-23 and enjoyed a terrific first season in the blue and orange. A veteran of 317 AHL appearances, Pickard went 23-12-2 with a 2.70 GAA and a .912 save percentage in 2022-23. Look back at the year that was for the 30-year old netminder.
- Went 15-1-2 at home
- Secured his fifth 20-win season in the AHL
- Recorded four shutouts, second-most in one season for him personally, and hit the 20 shutout mark for his AHL career
- Part of a Condors goaltending tandem which saw both netminders finish in the top 10 in save percentage for the first time in team history
- Named the team’s Man of the Year for his charitable work with the Saves for Charity program with donations matched by Graham Construction for the Condors Community Foundation 501(c)(3)
WHAT THEY’RE SAYING
“Number one he’s a leader. He brings some confidence and calmness to our team. He has a pretty good swagger between the pipes and seems to make the timely saves. Every night he gives us a chance to win,” – Colin Chaulk.
