Utah edges the Condors, 3-2
CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors (19-37-4-3, 45pts) battled back against the Utah Grizzlies (29-30-0-5, 63pts), but fell 3-2 Wednesday night at Rabobank Arena.
Bakersfield surged in the second period, outshooting the Grizzlies 15-8 in the period and getting on the board. But not before F Ryan Watson extended the Utah lead at 7:50. F Robby Dee notched his 20th of the season at 15:21 to make it a one-goal game. The Condors led in shots 22-21 through two periods.
F Robby Dee became the first Condors rookie since Matt Pope in 2008-09 to score 20 or more goals in a season… The loss snapped a four-game unbeaten home streak for the Condors… LW Kyle Calder took an interference penalty tonight, his first penalty in 18 games this season… Shots on goal: BAK- 34, UTA- 29… PP: BAK 0/2, UTA 0/3… Three Stars: 1. Skateboards and Hockey-Thon this weekend
The Condors host the Grizzlies again on Friday, and the first 2,000 fans 17 and under will get a Condors Skateboard Deck, sponsored by ABC23 and 106.1 KRAB Radio.
Saturday night against Las Vegas is the annual Condors Fighting Cancer Hockey-Thon, sponsored by KBAK Eyewitness News and KUZZ 107.9. Doors open at 4:45 p.m. for the Condors Alumni Game, while the Condors and Wranglers face off at 7 p.m.
