Condors vs. Aces TONIGHT!
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT
The Condors went 1-2-0-0 on Opening Weekend in a three-in-three set against the Stockton Thunder. Bakersfield won on Opening Night, 3-1, and had two-goal leads in each of the next two contests, but could not hang on, falling 4-3 at home on Saturday and 4-2 on the road on Sunday.
Alaska was swept in three games on home ice by the visiting Ontario Reign on Opening Weekend. The Aces never led on the weekend and were stymied by G Joe Cannata who surrendered just one goal on 67 shots in his two appearances in Anchorage.
CONDORS NOTES
Bakersfield has six players pacing the team with three points apiece. That list includes four rookies (Craig, C. Jones, K. Jones, Pageau) who are all tied for second in the early rookie scoring race… K. Jones and Pageau are tied for the rookie lead in assists with three through three games… Craig and Pageau each come into tonight’s action on three-game point streaks. Craig scored his first pro goal on Sunday…RW Jonathan Lessard scored goals in each of his first two games as a Condor and thought he extended it to three straight, but a potential second period tally on Sunday was disallowed… LW Josh Winquist, assigned by the Oklahoma City Barons, is expected to make his Condors debut tonight.
ACES NOTES
Alaska is now an affiliate of the St. Louis Blues (NHL) and Minnesota Wild / Iowa Wild. Last season, the Aces were the ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames… Rookie D Quinn Sproule, who scored the Aces only two goals of the weekend, played four seasons at the University of Alaska-Anchorage… Alaska lost six of their top seven scorers from a season ago. The returner out of that group is C Brendan Connolly who had 49 points (22g-27a) in 51 games in 2013-14… 6’5″, 215 lb. d-man Corbin Baldwin was assigned to the club from the Iowa Wild earlier this week.
